The UGA Medical Spanish Program is a four-week experience that caters to students preparing for future careers in healthcare. The rapid growth of the US Hispanic population presents a dire need for bilingual medical professionals: Pharmacists, Social workers, Nurses, Doctors, Public Health professionals, etc.

The objective of the UGA Medical Spanish Program is to prepare aspiring health care professionals to understand and overcome the challenges faced by the current medical system. In order to provide quality care to the nearly 36 million Hispanics in the United States, language skills and cultural sensitivity are no longer mere advantages; they are necessities. Students who acquire these skills as an integral facet of their academic preparation will benefit personally, professionally, and financially, from the wide range of opportunities available to bilingual professionals in the global market
